What is DVB S2

DVB-S2, or Second Generation Digital Video Broadcasting, is the the successor for the popular and widely used DVB-S.

Key improved features from the original DVB-S are:

  • The coding scheme is a powerful LDPC code. Chosen because of its low encoding complexity they have a special structure, known as Irregular Repeat-Accumulate Codes.
  • VCM & ACM (Variable & Adaptive coding and Modulation) modes. This fully allows optimisation to the bandwidth by changing the transmission parameter dynamically.
  • Enhanced modulation scheme up to 32APSK
  • Backward Compatibility

DVB S2 achieves significantly better performance than all predecessors and is fitted as standard in our MV-600
